Monticello Motor Club Poker Run

•• The pictures shown in the presentation above were taken by Tim Healey, a participant in many club events.

The BMW CCA CVC club was invited by the Candlewood Corvette Club to go to Monticello Motor Club track in a charity poker run on Sunday, October 19th. Approximately 30 members in 20 cars from the CVC chapter joined the Corvette club and it's affiliates in the tri-state area, as well as the tri-state Porsche clubs, and tri-state BMW clubs in a poker run to Monticello Motor Club. Monticello Motor Club is set at the bottom of the Catskill Mountains, about 90 miles NW of NYC. It is a private motor club, with a business model similar to Lime Rock Park's private club.

The Candlewood Valley Corvette Club had organized this charity event to support Ann's Place, a Cancer Support Services non-profit organization. For further information regarding Ann's place, please look them up on the web at http://www.annsplace.org. I believe the CCC raised a considerable amount of money for this cause!

The group met at exit 2 off of RT 84 at 8:15 AM. Approximately 120 cars then left Danbury, and made the drive to Monticello Motor Club, located in Monticello, NY. Sunday was a crisp, beautiful fall day for a road trip. Once off the highway, the back roads were fun to drive on. The scenic views, by themselves, made the road trip worthwhile. We arrived in Monticello late AM, and we were treated to a warm reception, casual lunch, and a wonderful track. Everyone in the group had the opportunity to make parade laps while split into three run groups. The track is beautiful, technically challenging, and meticulously prepared! Everyone had a great day of companionship, weather, and a multi-lap on-track exposure to this beautiful, private, 4.1 mile race track!

The BMW CCA CVC board members would like to hear from the club membership if you would like to have DS track days at the Monticello Motor Club in addition to the Lime Rock Park DS track days. We'd like to hear from you ASAP. Please feel free to funnel your interest through myself at . For more information about Monticello Motor Club, please visit their website at: http://www.monticellomotorclub.com/.

Meanwhile several females in the BMW CCA CVC group are talking about organizing a club event which will entail a trip to this region, a hiking trip, a luxurious spa treatment, dinner, and an overnight trip! Doesn't that sound wonderful? So expect to hear more about that trip, potentially planned for around the same time next year. And by the way, please contact any board members with any other ideas you might have for future events as well. We'd like to hear from you, our members!
