Humpa Picnic #37 Review

Once again the Humpa was a day to remember. The weather was cool for a change. The sun was intermittent. The drought continued. The BMWs were beautiful, the feast awesome, door prizes bountiful and we raised $677.00 for CT ALS.

Those few words hardly describe such a great day. Including young Bimmerphiles, we had 104 people. That is an increase over last year. We did an attendance count which revealed a lot of first, second and third timers, many fourth to 15 timers and a few 15 to 35 timers. John and I... all 37 Humpas. CVC is so fortunate to continue to attract new members while retaining the members we have treasured for years. Next year we all want to see YOU there!

As is traditional, Victor and Tony Oliveira of Tony’s Imported Auto Service provided the 6 Brands of Oktoberfest beers. Your CVC Provided door prizes (left over and new) including $250 worth of gift cards and BMW items from New Country BMW. Detail Best and Performance Automotive also provided door prizes. We were all WINNERS!

For the first time ever we almost consumed it all. You attendees outdid yourselves on the salads and desserts. Here is a partial list: Brownies, Cookies, Apple Fritters, an array of cakes and pie, Shady Glen Slaw, potato salads, baked beans, Asian salad, 4 bean salad, fruits and fruit salads, crunchy vegetables and other goodies beyond my memory! The CVC provided wursts were wonderful!

Andrea Wilson was not able to attend this year but she sent a letter and a contribution. In her letter she talked about the ALS Support group that she and Marsh belonged to. Those men and women and their families are still enduring the ravages of the disease that took Marsh and will eventually take their loved ones as well. Andrea is profoundly grateful for the continued contributions of our CVC Chapter to CT ALS.
