Annual Dinner, January 27, 2007

The Annual Dinner “Meeting” has become one of your chapter’s larger events of the year. You don’t want to miss this event! It is loaded with doorprizes, a great topic for the featured speaker (Street Survival), you’ll meet your new Board of Directors, and did I mention the food? This year your Board decided we should have a buffet for the dinner. Yes, you read correctly! You don’t have to choose now what you might want to eat a month from now. Just send in your check so that it arrives by January 14 (the restaurant needs to place their food order so we need to give them a head count!). Roger Chartier is again in charge of acquiring the door prizes. He has been doing this for a few years now and has gotten extremely good at it. In past years we’ve given away thousands of dollars in prizes, and every club member has gone home with a door prize, whether a large (set of tires) or small (bottle of wine) one. However, you MUST be a club member to be in the door prize pool. If you have a significant other that will join you at the meeting and is not yet an associate member, it would be a good idea to call the national office and make the addition to your membership for the small additional dues amount they charge. We do check the membership list before putting your name “in the hat”, so do it now so that the new name is added. Our Annual Elections Dinner will be held at the Manor Inn Restaurant in Southington, CT. The Manor is just off Interstate 84, at exit 28. It only takes 1 minute from the exit to the restaurant! See the directions at the end of this article. The charge for your dinner will be $30.00 per person. This includes hors D’oeuvres appetizers, cheese / pepperoni / crackers, bread & butter, tossed salad, stuffed filet of sole, ziti, roast beef, sausage & peppers, chicken francaise, vegetable, roasted potato, dessert, coffee, tea, soda, tax, tip, and of course the main speaker and those great door prizes. Date: January 27, 2007
Time: Cocktail Hour – 6:00 Cost: $30.00 per person (check made out to BMWCCA-CVC, mailed to jerri Wiley, P. O. Box 66, Stevenson, CT 06491) Location: Manor Inn Restaurant, 1636 Meriden-Waterbury Tpke, Southington, CT Directions: From Waterbury: I-84 East to exit 28 (Route 322), take a right, go 5 lights, restaurant is on the right.
ANNUAL DINNER SPEAKER FINALIZED We are pleased to announce that we have finalized the speaker for our Annual Dinner Meeting on January 27th, 2007. The Connecticut Valley Chapter has been working behind the scenes to attempt to organize a Street Survival School for about a year now. One of our biggest obstacles has been the lack of a suitable location. However, in an attempt to generate more interest and maybe stimulate a brain cell or two into thinking of a possible location, we have asked Michael Mitchell, the Office Manager and Curator of the BMW CCA Foundation to come and speak to us about the program. Michael began his BMW CCA career at the National Office in April of 2001. Planning for the Foundation began in 2002 and Michael was involved with the planning right from the beginning, sharing his time between the National Office and the Foundation. For the last year, he has spent all of his time with the Foundation and not only manages the office, but is curator of the club’s archives. He was also involved with Street Survival from concept to inception. Michael is a certified BMW enthusiast, extensive BMW model and pin collector, and his entries often receive awards in the Oktoberfest Mini Car Concours and Photo Contests. We are excited to have a speaker on this topic as we feel that the Street Survival Program is a real benefit in preventing many needless teenage injuries and deaths.
